Commissioner Basic Training Course (March 27, 2010)
The council's commissioner service will be offering the second commissioner basic training course for 2010.  The training is scheduled for 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 27th to be held at Camp Wildcat Hollow. The cost for the training event is $7.50, which includes the cost of materials and lunch. 

Commissioner Basic Training is for all recently recruited commissioners.  It provides an overview of commissioner service, how to assist assigned units, and other vital skills.

Council Aquatics Committee - Planned Aquatics Workdays
The council's Aquatics Committee Chair, Kevin Ogle, has announced the following general aquatics workdays to take place at Camp Roy C. Manchester in preparation of the council's summer camp:

March 20/21:      Evaluate RCM's fleet of boats and put masts on the Catalina 250s.
April 10/11:        General camp workday.
April 17/18:        Launching of the large sailboats.
May 1/2:            General camp workday - in conjunction with White Horse Lodge's spring ordeal.
May 28/29/30:    General camp workday - summer camp staff week begins May 30th.

2010 Shawnee Trails Council Commissioner College (April 24-25, 2010)
This year's commissioner college will be held at Camp Roy C. Manchester on April 24th-25th. Commissioner college is the premeir training for all commissioners, regardless if you are involved with unit service, roundtable service, or administration.  For a list of courses available, please visit the Commissioner Helps Site.   In addition to high quality training for commissioners, this year the college staff are offering a series of courses in district committe operations designed to give members of the district committee a working knowledge of district operations and support.  Click here for a downloadable copy of the course cataloge and registration materials. Wood Badge Course SR 1018 (September 24-16th; October 9-11th)

This year, Wood Badge will be held on September 24th, 25th & 26th and October 9thth & 11th at Camp Wildcat Hollow.  Attendance is required both weekends.  The first weekend will be a Friday, Saturday & Sunday and the second weekend will be a Saturday, Sunday & Monday.  The course tuition fee has not yet been confirmed but is estimated to be less than $225.  For additional information, please e-mail woodbadge@shawneetrails.org.

2010 Council President's Unit Award
At the annual business meeting held in December 2009, the Council President, Mr. Phil Pfeffer, announed the implementation of this new unit award.  This award incorporates the 2010 Centennial Quality Unit Award, the National Council's benchmarks for quality units with areas that the council would like to see units improve.  Some of these areas include leader training, and participation and attendance at your district's roundtable.  For more information, click here.
