Within the Shawnee Trails Council, there are six districts that serve a defined geographical area of the council, as determined by the council's executive board. The council guides and supports its districts for the achievement of the purposes of Scouting within the local area. The council leadership is made up of several key positions and committees that establish policies and programs designed to support Scouting within the districts.
The Council President (Philip M. Pfeffer)
The council president coordinates the efforts of volunteer members of the executive board and the executive committee - the individuals responsible for the overall planning and policymaking of the council. The council president is ultimately responsible for the council's finances, property, program, and other functions of the council.
The Council Commissioner (Tom Carr)
The council commissioner is responsible for providing training, guidance, and support to commissioners serving within the district - known as "commissioner service." The concept of commissioner service is to act as a liaison between the local council and the Scouting units. It is the responsibility of commissioner service to keep units operating at maximum efficiency by maintaining regular contact with unit leaders, counsel leaders on where to find assistance that will address weaknesses, and to make suggestions to improve unit functions. The council commissioner is ultimately responsible for the health of the units within Shawnee Trails Council. For more information, please visit the council's commissioner helps website.
The Council Executive Board and Executive Committee
The council's executive committee is made up of the council president, the Scout executive, council commissioner, council treasurer, council legal counsel, and the various council vice presidents who provide guidance and oversight to volunteers who make up the various committees responsible for conducting council functions.
The council's executive board includes the council president, the executive committee, professional staff, and community leaders across the area served by the Shawnee Trails Council.
Both the executive committee and executive board forms the network of support of the council's youth members, volunteers, chartered organizations, and professional staff.
