How do I register my elementary school aged son in Cub Scouting? How do I register my middle school through high school aged son in Boy Scouting? Contact our online Joining Scouting Information Survey which is designed to provide us with the information needed to connect you and your son with a Boy Scout troop in your community.
How do I register my high school aged son or daughter in Venturing? Because we are still developing the Venturing program in our council, the most effective way to join a Venturing Crew is to have your daughter or son complete the Venturing Interest Survey available on-line. Once we receive the results of the survey, we will be able to connect you and your daughter or son with a Venturing crew that has similar interests.
Beginning in September and continuing through the remaining fall months, Shawnee Trails Council conducts a school night registration campaign focused on recruiting new youth into the Cub Scout program. Cub Scouts is designed for young boys entering 1st grade (7 years old) through 5th grade (10 years old).
Boys are welcome and are encouraged to register within Cub Scouts any time of the year and do not have to wait for our fall recruitment drive. There are a few ways you can register your son in Cub Scouts without waiting for the fall recruitment drive:
Beginning in September and continuing through the remaining fall months, in conjunction with our Cub Scout registration campaign, the council encourages troops to hold "Troop Open House" meetings which are designed to welcome new prospective Scouts and their parents. To be eligible to register as a Boy Scout, a boy must have completed the 5th grade and not yet 18 years of age. Webelos who have completed the Arrow of Light can be transferred from Cub Scouts into a local Boy Scout troop.

Unlike the Cub Scout and Boy Scout programs, the recruiting efforts for the Venturing program are ongoing throughout the year. The Venturing program is a co-educational program and is designed to incorporate 14 through 20 year old young men and women into a program ran by youth with adult leadership taking on advisory roles.
