Welcome to the Parents and Community section of the Shawnee Trails Council Website

This section of the website is to provide parents and others within the communities served by the Shawnee Trails Council with a basic understanding of the mission, function, and structure of the council and district, and the various Scouting programs offered by the council.

The Council Information page serves to provide a descriptive overview of Shawnee Trails Council.

You will be able to see the impact of Scouting in the area served by the council through the Scouting Community page.  This page contains links to articles about our council's Scouts and leaders as well as official press releases submited by the council for publication.

The What is Scouting page introducesthe programs offered by Shawnee Trails Council, which include Cub Scout, Boy Scout, Varsity Scout, Venturing, and Exploring programs.  Each program focuses on a different youth demographic and offers a fun, yet challenging program specifically designed for youth based on age, physical, and mental ability.  Additionally, the How to Join Scouting page and an on-line survey can be completed by parents/guardians who are interested in registering their child in one of our Scouting programs.  Once the survey is submitted, it is immediately sent to our professional and volunteer staff responsible for assisting in the registration of new youth and adult members.

To help the communities we serve understand how Scouting works in the local community, the Your Local District page discusses the mission and purpose of the Boy Scouts of America and how the council and district work together to acheive those goals.  Additionally, it contains a county directory and links to the appropriate district page associated with the council website.
