The Lost River District is comprised of Butler, Edmonson, Logan, Simpson and Warren Counties, all located in Southcentral Kentucky. The district bestows a rich heritage of active Scouts and Scouters, while working to offer a diverse, quality program to area youth.

JANUARY 24, 2009 DISTRICT AWARDS DINNER
Our annual District Dinner will be held in The Presbyterian Church fellowship hall (1003 State St. Bowling Green). Nominations for District Award of Merit are still being accepted. We will recognize all 2008 recepients of the Arrow of Light & Eagle awards. Pre-registration is vitally important. Plaques will be awarded to AOLs & Eagles in attendance only. Cost for the dinner is $15 per person. Contact David Muffett or Jay Holland to register.
University of Scouting Registration Now Available Online
The University of Scouting training event for adult volunteer leaders will be held on January 10th in Madisonville. Classes will be filling up soon, so all adult leaders are encourage to register online. This training is an excellent opportunity for new and experienced leaders to get the most current information and resources available.
16th Annual Merit Badge University @ WKU
Lost River District, Shawnee Trails Council
The Sixteenth Annual Lost River District Merit Badge University will be held at Western Kentucky University's Downing University Center on February 7, 2009. Troops are encouraged to register early since most classes will be limited in size to 10 - 20 Scouts. The registration fee includes a patch and the costs of handouts for the merit badge. Lunch is not included and may be purchased individually on-site. In addition, the Council will offer a New Leader Essentials class to be followed by a Scoutmaster Leader Specific class for adults not involved in the classes. 2009 Lost River FOS Goal: $81,000
Scouters,
We are a 2008 Quality District! I appreciate all of your hard work in making this happen. Our FOS goal is higher than all of the other districts goals, but I expect us to be the best and we will reach it! Lost River led 2008 in membership growth and in FOS, so we want to make sure that 2009 is even better. Together we can accomplish anything and keep Lost River #1 in our council! Thanks again for a wonderful 2008 and I look forward to serving you in 2009!

Been on one of the hikes yet?
Nearly 90 different scouts from 10 different packs have (not to mention all of the siblings, parents, and friends who tag along as well). We've got a fistful of scouts nearing the 15-mile mark and bunches more closing in on 5 and 10 miles on their next outing.
The January hike will take place at Phil Moore Park between Bowling Green and Alvaton. Pack 250 will lead us.
Please arrive 15 minutes early for check-in so we can get going on time.
Date: Sunday, Jan. 11
When: Check-in at 1:45; depart at 2:00.
Meeting point: Phil Moore Park Gymnasium
All children must be accompanied by an adult responsible for their safety and supervision at all times; absolutely no drop-offs.
